Who Am I?

A Very difficult question to answer indeed. I will try to explain and hope it makes sense..:-)

I am the Son of Mrs. Girija Balasubramanyam and Late A Balasubramanyam.  Unfortunately both my parents are no more. I was born on the 19th January 1963 and am now married and live happily with my wife Deepika Handa. We have been married now for over 5 years and the relationship is still developing!!

My Late father was a Lawyer by education and a Social Worker and Politician by Profession. He was the State Secretary of the Labour oriented Party for Tamil Nadu and a member of the Parliament untill he passed away in September 1981. Well my mother was the Head of department of Biology and a Professor of Botany, in the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Institute and research center. She retired in 1981 and survived my father for about 10 years. As you can see both of them were highly literate and erudite.. part of the genes seems to have fallen my way.

All my friends, not that I have many, call me the most naive and a softhearted person they have come across. Well that might be true, as my wife strongly believes that  I need to be protected and taken care of, as she strongly agrees that I am not worldly wise. At the same time, professionally I have been told that I am too direct and not very diplomatic!

What I believe in ?

I strongly believe in sharing and giving. It is not possible to survive a world that is highly competitive and harsh by not learning to be sharing and playing one's part in trying to create an Utopia. Every small contribution helps. In a world that is badly torn by  a Sectarian and  Religious Fanaticism everyone of us have to genuinely make an effort to bridge gaps and lend a hand to fellow human being. Learn to be dependable. Learn to be reachable. To smile through adversity. To look at issues with calmness. To show compassion to fellow travellers. And above all learn to be tolerant.
